Replace stock sub w/ aftermarket sub

Was thinkin of maybe replacing the stock sub with an aftermarket sub...Ive got an 02 with the sub in the rear..The goal is to keep the cargo area clear, since I carry a ton of band gear. I plan on building a box for 1 10" that will go under the interior panel...But for now I was thinking of just buying a 8" sub and run it off the stock amp, and installiing it in the factory enclosure. Anyone ever tried this...Any idea what kind of power the stock amp has? I would imagine not much.....Also what ohmage is the stock sub? How deep is the stock box approx? Any help would be appreciated. Peace

Rockford 8" in the factory box. You can see the amp in the last pic mounted to the side of the box.

sounds really good now that i have a h/u with a sub output. i had a line out converter before and it sounded ok, alot better now.

I tried running this sub off the factory amp, could barely hear it. get a cheap amp...
