What are some of the tell tale signs of a bad EGR?...other than rough idle. How long do they last before they hinder performance?

When you say per tank, do you mean 30 gallons, or whenever you decide to fill up? Also, when I replaced the EGR on my Caddy it was because there was a hesitation in the motor when accelerating from a dead stop. That fixed the problem.

10 to 12 is about normal. thats what i get in my 96. my 02 with 50,000 miles gets 13-14 but thats with the 5.3 which is a much more effecient engine. all mpg's are in city, I don't know what either gets on the highway.
