I am going to buy an electric fan from an 06 tahoe for my 03 tahoe. Do I need to buy the harness and have the "pins" activated? If so where can I get them (I heard Black Bear does something like this) and how much would it cost? Thanks for your help.

Go with the OEM Tahoe fans over the LS1 fans. They bolt right in, in about 5 mins
using existing holes and mounting tabs.

Nelson Performance makes a VERY nice swap wire harness.
They can also send you a new PCM with fans activated and you return
your old one.

Was very pleased with their performance tune I got at the same time too.

Mine OEM Tahoe fans work awesome, ONLY way to go IMO.

Whats cheap ?
You can get brand new Tahoe fans (not used) off ebay for $250 shipped.

Nelson also makes an LS1 fan swap harness too.
Nice pieces, come with all the relays and everything wired up.

The ease of install of the Tahoe fans really cant be beat. It literally took me
60 secs to drop it in place and have it bolted into factory holes in the radiator.

Even has holes to reclip the upper radiator hose right back in place.

If you can get the factory harness, i would highly recomend it, the fan wires are part of the front headlamp wire harness assy, comes with relays and fuses for the factory elect fans. You will have to add 2 wires to the factory ecm connector, Also you can take your vehicle to a dealer and he can program your ecm to activate fans. I have done several of these conversions useing oem fans bought from ebay at $250 for the fans, approx $200 for the harness from gm. It is all factory, looks factory and is ecm monitored and controlled, you have high and low speeds. Codes will set if you have a problem with a fan. I have seen other types of setups and many have has many problems, I have done this on my '03 tahoe about a year and half ago, no problems at all. It's a more expensive way to go, but it is more reliable and factory.
