Should I buy a 2008 Tahoe or Yukon?

OR should I wait for a 2009 Tahoe or Yukon?

Which one would you buy Tahoe or Yukon, and taking into consideration the current promotions which year 2008 or 2009?

I know some of it is a matter of taste but would appreciate your thoughts and and your reasoning.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I was lucky enough to find a dealer with both in the lot. I had them parked side by side so I could decide which I preferred. Ultimately I think it's going to come down to personal preference on the front end. For me, I was looking at 2wd and found the Yukon to be more 'classy'. I know some people are going to disagree with me and that's what makes these vehicles so awesome. I love them both, but found the Tahoe to be damn sporty and the Yukon more 'blingy'. I think all the options are just about the same on both and seemed that a Yukon was a bit more expensive for some reason. One thing I don't care for, is the Tahoe is much more popular, even for the police department and local security service companies. And for the years, again, what is important to you? I bet the 08 will fetch you a great deal, but I think the 09 has a better transmission. I can't complain. I have an 08 Yukon SLT. Love every second I get to drive it!! Good luck on your purchase!

This question has been coming up lately on here. Here's my answer:

Personally, if you're not in a big rush I'd go to different dealers AT THE END OF THE MONTH and evaluate the prices that you're being offered on each truck and then decide if it's worth it. They're pratically giving these away at the moment. I mean if, for example, basically the difference in getting exactly what you want in an 08 or 09 is averaging about $1,500-$2,300 in difference of price then go with the 09. Anything more than that I'd just go for the 08. No shame in that. It's only a year old.

Well I actually did have to make that decision earlier this year. I thought about which one to buy for about 2 months and compared them both. The Yukon came with more standard features, but you can get a fully loaded Tahoe for cheaper. The Yukon is, im my opinion, a more refined vehicle. Side by side the only thing that I like a little more about the Tahoe is the headlights. I like how they sit. Over all I am happy that I went with the Yukon. The ride is so smooth. I have had it since Feb and I have had ZERO complaints about it or problems with it. I have pictures I am going to post on here if you wanna check it out. Now between 08 and 09 there is going to be very little changed. So if I were you I would get a 08 because you will get a better deal on it and with the employee discount right now it is prime time to buy which ever one you choose.

I don't have either yet but I'd get the Tahoe. I just don't like the headlights and taillights of the Yukon, it has that "stacked" look to them! The front end on the LTZ Tahoe is beautiful to look at...:yesnod:

One other thing I noticed is that the Tahoe shares the front end with many other models in the Chevrolet line up. It's one of the best looking front ends in an SUV out there, but I really like being different with my Yukon. I have only seen one other black Yukon (Denali) in my area. I see Tahoes and Suburbans all over the place.

Get the Tahoe unless you are looking the Yukon Denali. Tahoe is more bang for your dollar.

I really wanted a 09 tahoe, but they are ALOT more expensive then the 08's are now. The MSRP's are significantly more, and there are very little if any rebates available. Plus, with 09 tahoe production way down, i was afraid it would be more difficult to find an 09 exactly how I wanted (and I am very particular), and would be even harder to bargain since I doubt dealers will have tons of them sitting on the lots. Which means it would have to be ordered, which reduces bargaining power even more. All said and done, it worked out to be roughly a $10,000 price difference between a new 08 and a new 09, and while the 09 had some features I really wanted, I could not justify paying an additional 10 grand for them.
