I have the SBZA on my Tahoe. It's basically a proximity sensor in the corners of the rear bumper that will alert you (via a light on the side mirrors) that a vehicle is approaching or in the common blind zone of your vehicle. It's a nice little feature to let you know if a small car is hiding where your mirrors can see it. The only thing I've found is that if the rear bumpers get really dirty the SBZ system will disengage because the sensor can get proper readings. It will also disengage in heavy rain or fog because those conditions interfere with the transmission and reception of the radar signals.

It is new for '09. While a neat gimmick which will undoubtly help some, if you adjust your mirrors correctly, there shouldn't be a blind zone.
