So im trying to wire up an inverter and I am extending some wires. My question is, can you use a different gauge wire to extend the existing wire? For example 24 gauge to 16 gauge and back to 24. Thanks for your help!

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link…. And the longer the run, the heaver wire you’ll want to use. If it came with 24 gauge pigtails, I would not go smaller…….

So the 16 gauge would be the weakest link even though its a larger wire? Sorry if im being ignorant just don't know too much about this stuff.
