Hi, my wife has a 2007 tahoe with 14,000 miles on it. She does not drive it much. Every month or so I go out, remove the positive terminal and charge the battery. this action looses all the presets on the radio. The battery does require charging (its new) due to the alarm system, it usually lasts around 5-6 weeks and then it wont start. Charged, starts fine. My question is this............is it ok to charge the battery and leave the positive cable on? I have a Dayton automatic 2/10/15 charger. I just want to make sure I dont damage anything........

THanks

Ray,

If your Tahoe sits that long, rather than letting the battery discharge to a level where it does not start and you need to put a "charger" on it, I would recommend you get a battery tender. That way you can keep the batteries connected and the tender will routinely charge up the battery to the acceptable level, then it goes to sleep until time to bring the battery up to the acceptable level again.

There are some good battery tenders on the market:

I have three of these. One for my Tahoe, one for my boat and a spare one.
