Is there an update that they are doing to the 08's that they didn't do on the 07's? My cabin is loud as sh!t.. The windows are thinner than my hairline and the roof is so uninsulated that you can hear the rain hit the sheetmetal in a drizzle??

I hope so..It honestly seems kind of loud to me? I'm comparing to an 04 range rover which are notoriously loud.. At least until 05..
What would be the most cost effective sound dampening system? Is there any type of foam that can be sprayed above the headliner and in the doors? When I drive in the rain it sounds like i'm in an ice storm..

ALso, Does anyone have a little squeek in the doorlock "plunger"? I can't tell if the top of my door panel is loose or if it's just the door lock in the lowered position that is making the noise?? sounds like it's taped on..

There's something called Dynamat that car audio shops use.

I'm wondering if they left something out. My 07 is very quiet.

Do you think that would happen??

I know this sounds stupid.. but would you please do me a favor?? Could you open your sunroof for me and tap on the roof just to see if it sounds uninsulated like mine?? Have you driven it in the rain? I mean, it just makes no sense to me! I just don't get it? Does everyone else have some sort of sound dampening between the headliner and the outer sheetmetal??

Any help is appreciated..

I would go with dynamat, you put that throughout the unisulated parts and it will dramatically improve, if you put that throughout the entire truck you will not even be able to hear the road noise! All the 07s that I test drove were very quiet, well except the Denali when I really got on the throttle, it really seems strange that yours is so loud. Good Luck :Chevy:

Thanks!

I'm going to look around and get some quotes.. I can't imagine that it will be cheap? I'm also, going to get some new window tint and clear film in the back which will help as well..

Can anyone with a sunroof check for me to see if their rood is insulated? If someone could open theirs and tap on the roof to see I would appreciate it.. I just tried it again in mine and it sounds like I'm in the back of a construction van...No insulation whatsoever..
I'm a little nervous that removing the headliner would be expensive...

I knew it!!! Look what i found on the other forums...I found this on the edmunds town hall site..
if you want the link just shoot me and email..apparantly there are a ton of TSB's that are out there for the 07 tahoes and yukon that address a lot of the problems that we all discuss on this forum..

Hope this helps!! I'm just glad I'm not crazy! I knew that the insulation wasn't installed correctly!

"Went into the dealership to drop off and leave my 2007 Tahoe, LT2, 4x4, for the following:
1) Misfitting for plastic piece that fits between the windshield and dash;
2) Rattle above the driver's head;
3) XM radio kits off, displays "Not Available" on radio, and then changes to standard FM radio channel;
4) Plastic "L" channel around the two back doors coming loose;
5) Engine has vibration or is making "growling" sound in 4 cyclinder mode;
6) Air escapes from around the two rear doors and around the rear seal on the rear window when fan and aux fan is on max or when I use the remote start.

While giving the dealer service guy my laundry list, he stated there is a service bulletin recall to update the HVAC computer control chip. (First I heard of that) They did not mention it last week when I had an oil change, so it must be new. Here is a list of what they did to the tahoe or what they told me. The list will be in the same order as my complaints.

1) They removed the plastic dash peice and refit it;
2) Headliner was improperly installed in the factory, they had to fix the insulation and reinstall it;
3) On going radio problem, GM is working on a firmware fix and will send out a service bulletin when they fix it;
4) Glued the top pieces back on, cross my fingers and hope that works LOL;
5) GM bulletin states that noise/vibration is normal and is to be expected. When the engine goes from 8 to 4 cylinders or vice versa, the harmonics change thus causing the vibration/growl noise. GM has no plans to fix it, basically told me to live with it;
6) Check it and stated that air escaping is normal due to overpressure in the interior of vehicle. According to dealership, all 12-14 other Tahoes on their lot do the same thing so it must be okay, I am going to revisit this at a later date, not happy with their answer.

No clue what the HVAC computer change did, but GM said to do it, so they did."
