Installing after market stereo flip out screen

A friend asked me to install an after market flip out stereo system in place of his stock radio unit. How hard would that be. Would I just take out the old and in with the new? btw 05 tahoe w/ bose and he doent know what brand the radio is as he hasnt got it yet. any tips would help, thanks!

They do hit the shifter but I like mine, just shift in to neutral real quick and ur good to go. make sure that you dont have it on auto close when you turn your car off though. it will hit the shifter on the way down. Easy install though, same as a regular head unit. I would recomend crutchfield.com they come with guides and harnesses. Dont hook the wire that goes to the ebrake up though, just wire it to a ground so you can run the system while in drive if you want.

Not all units work that way. A lot of newer units needs to see ground consecutive times within a certain period of time. For example, some units have to see ground for one second, open ground for another second, then ground again. In this case, you can't just ground the ebrake wire; you'll have to hook up a toggle switch.
