So I kind of have the new car bug. I'm thinking about selling my Tahoe and getting an Envoy or Trailblazer instead.

- lower gas consumption
- nicer bits (seat heaters, Bluetooth, third row seats, etc)
- no/less maintenance (Hoe has 120k on it, gonna need a lot of stuff soon)

I'm willing to settle for a used '06 or so to save quite a few grand, but I'm wondering if anyone else on here has done this... and how bad did you miss your Hoe afterward?

I rarely tow anything, but it's certainly come in handy. I do a few "projects" around the house and love the capacity of the Tahoe to haul all kinds of stuff. I'm also a DJ on the weekends and have a lot of equipment that *should* fit in the Envoy... but it is nice having a third seat even when all my equipment is packed.

Additionally, I'm a little concerned about the Envoy/TB quality. I love the solid Silverado frame/chassy, and have nothing but praises for the Tahoe. I just can't justify getting a "newer" Tahoe that looks the same, and I certainly should not be buying an 07.

Anyway, what do you all think? Should I be labeled a traitor?

We'll have none of that "devil talk" around here!!!

Seriously though, I totally understand. I wanna get another GMT900 to replace my 97 Caravan, but I totally can't afford or justify it. I've considered Acadia, but even those are $$$$$, so I'm with you -- save your money for what's more important (i.e. probably not a brand new ride), and get what makes $en$e to you! I've seen some really nice looking Envoy Denali's in the last couple of years. No idea how reliable that platform is though... Good luck!

Maybe if Santa brings me a bag of cash, yeah...

Plus, my GM employee discount would help... Not to jack this thread, BUT, I have cashflow issues at the moment, so any new debt is outta the question until I improve my solvency. After that though, perhaps by summer time, I'll be looking for something in the 20K range. Maybe a used Enclave/Acadia/Outlook or something, we'll see!

Yeah, 20K range is good for me.

I wish I could, but I can't keep the Tahoe too, I already have a motorcycle

It's like I'm rationalizing keeping the big pimpin truck when really, it's needed for maybe 20% of my use. I really SHOULD get a cheap, "sensible" car for my commute... but that would just be very un-American of me.

That 20% is important when it's my DJ gigs, however, which pretty much limits me to an Envoy as the smallest sized vehicle I can get. We don't live in a neighborhood, so I can't park on the street. Sadly, our driveway isn't big enough to allow one more vehicle.

Yep I hear ya -- I could solve my "issues" completely by selling the Denali. You think I'm gonna do that? :D And, I think I'll move to the Socialist Republik of Kalifornia when I get my check. :giggling: Let us know how you work it out, bzbatl!

we used the class A discount on all our vehicle perchases this year. man like 6k off the sticker then you start to get incentives too.

good luck finding a used one, we could bairly find new ones. their neat cars, but i still love the tahoe. yukons so much more.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have an '07 Hoe. I just can't justify a $40,000 vehicle right now.

It's more like downgrading from a 15-year-old 4,000 sq ft house to a brand-new 2,500 sq ft one. Think taxes, electric bill, and rooms you never use.

A Kia Rondo would be a condo.

North Atlanta - I live 10 minutes from the Mall of Georgia (Bill Heard of Buford is closest to me).

The two things I really want are:

- 3rd row seating
- as much integrated as possible (DVD, BT, etc)

I don't mind doing the #2 stuff on my own, I'm handy with mods. But I certainly would rather it be integrated with steering wheel functionality and such.

I'm not picky on colors or most other options.

I agree 40K is a lot for a vehicle as we are keeping ours for at least 10 years.

im keeping my yukon until the wheels fall off, then its going on cement blocks in my front yard and im gunna turn it in to a time machine, i figure i can get a lot of miles when the wheels fall off, im thinking its gunna mit 900k then start back at 0 again. the deanli on the other hand i think i may sell in 6 years or so, depending on when i have kids:ack: :)lol:) , maybe another yukon or somthing.

I wouldn't say downgrading, but downsizing rather, as the later model Trailblazers and especially Envoy Denalis come with a lot of creature comforts and are nice in their own ways. If that fits your needs better, then do what you gotta do. You'll definitely be saving money when it comes to the pumps.

Unless I get that sick 6.0 TB, haha.

Yes, downsizing is a better term for it. I just wonder on reliability - isn't the Envoy/TB a relatively new platform for GM?
