Well some of you have alreadt read in another one of my posts, I'm looking for a Tahoe with the 6.2L, now one of the reasons why I want it is of course more power but I also like the idea of having 6 gears instead of 4.

Now with that said, I would like to compare mileage from a majority or the Tahoes here (5.3) to the other Suv's such as the Escalade and or Denali. (6.2)

Post up your City and Hwy mileage.

I thought someone mentioned that the bigger motors do NOT have the Active Fuel Management system... Not sure if this is true, but that will lower your overall fuel mileage a bit.

The big motors in the escalades and yukons do not have AFM.
The 6 speed will be available with the 5.3 in 2009. That could be an option if you worried about fuel consumption.

I have the 5.3 in my 08 Tahoe the computer says I get 16.8 and all I drive is city if that gives you an idea. My dad has a 2008 Escalade and I drove it the other day his computer says around 14 MPG I cant remember exact but I know its around there. He drives half city and half highway we both do drive on the slower side with rising gas prices though. Hope this helps.

Last weekend I set the cruise at 65 mph (yes, cars were flying by me) but after 300 highway miles I averaged 21.1 mpg. That was a round trip so wind was not really a factor. My DIC currently says 15.1. I typically see 13-14 around town (suburbs) and 19-20 driving normally at 70 on the highway. I rarely ever drive around with my 3rd row seats in if that makes a difference. In true downtown Chicago city driving I saw a solid 10 mpg. These things are not made for the big city!

I have an 07 Denali and I am getting 10-12 miles per gallon, mostly city and I have a lead foot. It helps to have a badge.

I've had both the 5.3 and 6.2 in the new GMT900's and my experience is that the 6.2 gets approximately 15-20% worse gas mileage.

Normal driving when im not in a huge hurry to my office when a buddy pulls a prank and says it was broken in to and thats why there are pics of broken glass in my e-mail from him i get about 16 city and 18 highway. very happy actully with that.

I've had my 08 Tahoe for about 7 weeks now. The computer shows me getting exactly 14.4 mpg so far. When I got the truck it had 250 miles on it and the mpg was 12.7. I do about 90% freeway driving. I try to balance the pedal as much as possible for a smooth ride. I expect to get overall about 16-17 mpg.
