ok so my 95 is a work in progress lol. finally believe I got the vacuum leak fixed properly or as close as its gonna get (but it works). had to use an elbow off another make vehicle on the backside of the tbi that goes to the valve cover, basically a ventilation hook up. shifts alot smoother with a little more power and doesnt hang in the lower gears like it used to. also changed the bottom half of the tbi out with another one that wouldnt hang up when operating the butterflies, the feel of the gas pedal is really smooth now.
question is... ran fine for the first five or six times I drove it but last couple times I started it it idles at around 1600 rpms. put it in gear and drops to 800/900 (still a little high). I left the tps on the 'new' bottom half of the tbi when I did the swap because a time or two I had got a cel for the original tps so thought it might be on its way out. if I unplug the current tps and plug it back in and then start the truck it starts/runs fine till the next time I start it. no cel right now but Im guessing this one might be bad now. any ideas?

Either you have a vacuum line leaking, blown TBI base gasket, sticking/ leaking EGR, sticking IAC valve.

I would check that TBI base gasket, they tend to get blown....

when it gets to normal operating temperature it idles normally so I dont think it's a vacuum problem. changed the iac and didnt make a difference. will try changing the tps later today.

Not necessarily..... as the engine heats up things expand.... been down that road. But before you replace the TPS you can test it with a meter...... Also check the CTS sensor (OHM CHECK It)....
