I was looking under the hood this am to just check it and noticed that I had a wire on top of my master cylinder. For the life of me I cannot find where the other end inserts. It is on the firewall and looking at the firewall from the front of the vehicle it is the second screw to the right of the engine and has a number (possible part number) of 9982.

Could someone enlighten me?

I think that's a ground wire connected to chassis. Just put a connector and bolt it back on and you'll be fine.

That is a ground strap for the hood, look stright up from thr firewall to the underside if the hood, you should see a threaded post, probly find the broken end of the wire.
