I used Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover for the left side, decided it was too much work and used 3M Glue and Adhesive remover for the right side. Much easier.
Perhaps it was the 10+ years spent in Ohio year round, snow, salt, humid heated summers, etc. but I had tried Goo Gone,3M adhesive remover, 3m Glue and adhesive remover, as well as two other 'knock-offs' that I had luck with in the past.. I think it was due to the foam tape rather than like a 'sticker' type residue. Great for you if it worked, I tried those routes all before going with the eraser wheel route.. lots of dust (well.. eraser drippings, just like a pencil) but it worked great.
Bigblack, one other word of advice.. keep an eye on the wheel and move often.. when it really heats up, you can burn into the clear coat. I've done that, although it was on a plastic bumper :ktoe: Again, just a precautionary note.
